I can’t fully express the depth of my gratitude and overwhelming admiration I gained for Ali. 

Today, we had a patient transition to palliative care. While it was challenging and an emotionally heavy assignment, she handled it with grace and compassion. 

Ali went above and beyond to ensure both the patient and their loved ones felt truly cared for. Not only did she provide comfort in the moment, but she took extra steps to show kindness in ways that made a lasting impact. She bought the patient a Panera coffee and picked out a thoughtful gift for the grandson. She worked tirelessly to create a safe, supportive space. She even increased privacy, covering a window to the room. 

During this, Ali continued to invest in my learning, taking the time to teach and guide me, all while delivering the highest level of care to all our patients. Watching her today was a powerful reminder of the kind of nurse I aspire to be. 

Ali, through your actions, you reinforce holistic nursing that goes beyond treating physical signs and symptoms. It's easy to forget we're caring for people who have emotions, fears, and needs beyond their medical ones. Today, I learned that extra kindness can ultimately strengthen the bond between a nurse and their patients. Your compassion is inspiring. You are always giving so much of yourself to others, and I hope that one day I can embody even a fraction of the qualities you hold. Simply put, you were truly inspiring today and every day. I cherish every interaction we have.
