Alex is the hardest-working nurse I have ever seen! He cleaned up the room and bathroom, stocked the cabinet and nurses' supplies, took trash and laundry out, and even did several things during shift switch, like changing dialysis drain bag so night nurse wouldn't have to. He did all of this in addition to taking such good care of my husband, making sure we wanted for nothing! He did all this while talking with both of us to help us feel at ease. He really listened to my husband's needs and feelings, and figured out the best schedule to get him the medicine he needed for maximum pain relief with minimum nausea and "loopiness." He truly cared and was fully invested in my husband's recovery. He was probably the most knowledgeable nurse I have ever met, about medicine and several related topics. He was a great listener for me as well, and it was a great distraction to have a conversation about something besides my husband's condition for a few minutes! He was super encouraging of my husband's 1st few walks around the unit. He even came by to check on him and say hello a few days later, and was so genuinely happy to see him doing better! I will never forget Alex: a cross between the Energizer Bunny, a ray of sunshine, and a friend...all wrapped up in the package of a super-skilled and caring nurse!
