During his states of delirium, Alexa treated him with humor and compassion and did a great job distracting him, when necessary, quickly diffusing any episodes.
Alexa cared for our father/husband when he was transferred to the ICU after scans revealed that he had lesions in both his brain and lungs. Due to brain swelling and the effects of low sodium, he was unusually irritable during his time in the ICU. During his states of delirium, Alexa treated him with humor and compassion and did a great job distracting him, when necessary, quickly diffusing any episodes. In addition, she validated his feelings and helped educate him, helping to ground him, which was truly invaluable throughout our 5-day stint in the ICU.

In addition, due to the complexity of his preliminary diagnosis, we, as a family, decided it was in his best interest to transfer him to Memorial Sloan Kettering - a process that was very complex, filled with bureaucracy and countless delays. No one helped us as much as Alexa did throughout the process. She relentlessly called MSK, the transport center, etc., to help us get him transferred and was as emotionally invested in our husband/father's wellbeing as we were. She went above and beyond to support and help our family.

Alexa is truly one of a kind and an invaluable member of the nursing staff. We wish we could bring her with us to all future hospital stays. She was our family's advocate, friend, and nurse, and the level of care she brought to our husband/father was outstanding.
