Alex remembered all our names, had meaningful conversations with us, was so encouraging, advocated intensely for my mom, and made the entire experience as pleasant as it could be.
My mom spent over a month in the Neuro ICU following a recurring brain aneurysm rupture. Through it all, we looked forward to seeing Alex (one of many wonderful nurses helping my mom). Alex was extraordinary in how she not only cared for my mom, but also our family. Alex remembered all our names, had meaningful conversations with us, was so encouraging, advocated intensely for my mom, and made the entire experience as pleasant as it could be. She was always a friendly face and someone we grew to trust so much.

Alex spent many hours easing our minds and helping my mom navigate a very scary hospital stay. She was more than a friendly face for us; she became a trusted team member in how we all navigated through the initial emergency, subsequent surgeries, additional health complications, and meeting my mom again after her TBI.

To list just a couple of examples of Alex’s expertise and attention to detail:

She was quick to recognize a slipped PICC line issue and immediately called for the necessary imaging to reposition it.

Alex got to know my mom so well that she was able to advocate on her behalf when managing her intracranial pressure with small ability and personality changes that were not able to be noticed by providers who did not spend as much time with my mom. So many of the days spent with Alex were filled with complexities, and hours and hours of intense nursing attention, requiring so much more than an average nurse would endure.

Through it all, Alex was a source of comfort and will always be thought of with the highest esteem for her kindness, expertise, hard work, and sense of humor through it all. We love you, Alex!
