I am incredibly proud to nominate Alexandra Woods for the DAISY Nurse Leader Award! Alex possesses a remarkable ability to show compassion while demonstrating exceptional leadership. Even in challenging situations, she maintains her professionalism. Alex ensures that every person on her team feels appreciated and is always available to help, whether they have questions or simply need someone to listen. She is dedicated to improving patient outcomes and embodies all the essential qualities of an effective leader. Alex isn’t afraid to get her hands dirty and engage in nursing tasks to support her fellow team members. She exemplifies true leadership by never asking anyone to do something she wouldn’t do herself. Without a doubt, Alex is the most caring and thoughtful boss I have ever worked for. She is the reason I continue to work on the Neuro Unit, making the 45-minute drive every day, even though there is another hospital within the same health system just 10 minutes away.

Alex excels in addressing patient concerns and genuinely prioritizes her patients' and employees' well-being. A perfect example of her kindness occurred after a particularly challenging Friday when we were short-staffed with heavy acuity and multiple rapid responses. As she was leaving for the day, a distressed family member of a patient found himself stranded in the parking garage due to car trouble. Concerned about his ill family member and worried about getting home, Alex selflessly paused her departure to assist this elderly gentleman with a battery jump, sacrificing precious time with her young family to ensure he could drive off safely. 

Alex also makes it a priority to meet with each employee to understand what is happening in their lives outside of the hospital, further demonstrating her commitment to their care. I feel her support not only on a personal level but also see its impact on our unit. This is why it is an honor to nominate Alexandra Woods for the DAISY Nurse Leader Award. She embodies the values of BayCare, and her unwavering support, resilience, and commitment to excellence make her the ideal candidate for this award.
