It is evident that her heart is in what she does.
Aleksandra, who likes to be called Ali, exhibits all of the characteristics and skills of a great nurse. Caring is Ali’s number one characteristic. Ali’s heart knows no bounds. At any given time, she can be seen holding a patient's hand or wiping their brow with a cool washcloth. As a nurse, compassionate care is one of Ali’s priorities and she proves it to patients and staff time and time again. Ali exhibits empathy with each and every encounter. One prime example was the time a patient woke up from anesthesia in tears. The patient was very emotional and was hard to console. Ali came over and held the patient's hand, stroked her hair, and spoke to her in a calm and soothing voice. After a while, the patient calmed down and was at ease due to the wonderful care she received. Ali is a nurse that all nurses should look up to.
Ali was my nurse in the post-op room and was wonderful in the way she described my procedure and the medicines I would be taking and getting lunch and dinner ordered. She answered all the many questions I had and made me feel very comfortable. Ali was terrific with her constant monitoring of me following my hip surgery. She was extremely attentive and kind in constantly checking my vitals and pain level. I was slow to come out of my spinal anesthetic and she constantly assured me everything was normal. Ali was astute in checking my bladder and made me comfortable in emptying my bladder. She was very professional and caring. It takes a special person to not just handle all the crying we do as we wake up, but Ali took such good care of me the entire time. It's a confusing time when you wake up and she was there every step of the way; staying calm, reassuring, and positive.
If I can describe the type of nurse Ali is, I would use words like exemplary, culturally sensitive, and very reliable. She cares for all patients like her family. If you have ever gotten a chance to overhear or see Ali talk to her patients, it is always with so much heart and in a soothing tone. When it comes to patient advocacy, she is able to clearly communicate to ensure her patient’s needs are met. It is evident that her heart is in what she does. She easily exhibits the Stamford nursing care model. She collaborates with the inpatient unit nurses by offering herself when they are in a bind to help pass medications or assist a patient to the bathroom. She readily communicates with other members of the interdisciplinary team to ensure patient and family-centered care.
