Something that makes her stand out is the way she treats people. With her patients, she is kind and does everything for them to feel like they can trust her.
I was a student following Alejandra for two days, and those two days were enough to know how good of a nurse she was. At the beginning not only did she get report and checked on her patients, but if they were awake she asked if they needed anything, she checked the chart, meds, everything about the patient that she didn’t know or was curious about.

However, something that makes her stand out is the way she treats people. With her patients, she is kind and does everything for them to feel like they can trust her; she goes above and beyond for them to the point of helping the CNAs if her patients need something. I specifically remember the interaction she had with a dementia patient that was nonverbal. I remember she paid specific attention to her because she was on bed rest and had a type 1 ulcer on her back. Something that caught my attention was that she talked to the patient even if most people didn’t, she asked the patient yes or no questions and explained everything she was doing to her and the meds she was going to give her. She changed the patient’s position and asked her if she was comfortable. Alejandra also ended up changing her sheets and putting a position change sheet in the door.

Her interactions with her coworkers were awesome because she is friends with everyone, so when she has a little time, she helps them if they need help. With students, she explained everything she was doing, she explained the medications and their actions, and she taught and asked about labs and how different diseases can change them, such as x-rays and MRIs. Throughout the day, she was always open to questions, always ready to help, always with a positive vibe and a good mood, and always ready to listen to everyone who needed it.
