I was wheeled to inpatient dialysis for the first time early in the morning. I prefer when I wear my own comfortable pajamas rather than a hospital gown. While getting dialysis, my ileostomy leaked. I had poop everywhere. I call these episodes "craptastrophes". I had no supplies or clean clothes with me. Everything was upstairs in my room. Alecia quickly jumped in to help me get everything fixed and cleaned up and didn't make me feel like the pile of crap that I literally was.

Later that afternoon, I awoke in my hospital room to find a bag from the gift shop with a new, clean set of pajamas and a note from Alecia. I didn't even know she came all the way up to my room as I was asleep. I thought it was the sweetest, kindest thing a nurse has ever done for me. The next time I went to dialysis, she wasn't working, but I told her manager and the other nurses what she had done for me. None of them were surprised. They said that's the way she is. She goes above-and-beyond in kindness.
