I believe that if Alana wasn't there at this time, it is possible that things wouldn't have been as favorable of an outcome as they were.
Alana has been at the birth of all three of my children. So it was a relief that she was at this one. When she came on shift, she immediately came into the room to check on my wife. She was instrumental in providing knowledgeable care for my wife and my baby. Once it came time or close to the time for my wife to start pushing, she came to my acute care room to let me know; at this time I was also a patient for diverticulitis.

As soon as Dr. W came to the room it was determined that the baby was breach and needed to go to the OR to perform an External Cephalic Version. Once there, Alana showed great compassion and care for my wife and unborn child. They tried to flip the baby over 3 times, it was at this time Alana told them to "Stop" because "he" wasn't tolerating the procedure. She used her HRO tools and spoke up for safety. I believe that if Alana wasn't there at this time, it is possible that things wouldn't have been as favorable of an outcome as they were.

It didn't stop there, she continued to show care for my child when things weren't looking good and kept on checking to make sure that because of the Cesarean section that he was ok. Alana is and always will be my favorite OB nurse. She shows so much care for caregivers, patients, and visitors that it is hard not to deeply appreciate her not only as a nurse but as an Amazing human being. She is the example that we should all strive for. Thank you.
