As she transitions...Aimee leaves behind a standard of excellence, a beacon of courage, and a heart of empathy and compassion that will continue to guide and inspire her colleagues long after her formal nursing career has ended.
From the start of her career as an EMT in the United States Air Force to her decades of service as a nurse, Aimee has placed patients and families at the center of all she does. She has cared for mothers, babies, and families with compassion, skill, and unwavering presence. Through teaching the perinatal education course “Newborn Care,” Aimee equipped countless families with confidence and knowledge, creating a foundation for safe, nurturing care at home.
Even as she personally faced health challenges, Aimee continued to provide comfort, strength, and expertise to the patients entrusted to her care. Her ability to bring joy, reassurance, and peace in moments of great vulnerability has left a lasting mark on every life she touched.
Aimee has been a steadfast mentor, advocate, and innovator for her peers, and she has had a positive impact on her colleagues. She proudly served as the Mother Baby IT change champion, leading initiatives such as BYOD, MyChart Bedside, and the EPIC postpartum hemorrhage navigator, projects that enhanced both patient safety and staff workflow. Known affectionately as the “queen of SBARs,” Aimee never hesitated to raise her voice for clarity, quality, and patient-centered improvement, characteristics so vital to ensuring positive patient outcomes.
Her influence extended through service on the Maternal Mental Health Task Force and Unit Practice Council, where she championed care for vulnerable populations and modeled the courage to challenge the status quo. Her colleagues consistently describe her as a beacon of light in the workplace, a nurse who lifts spirits, encourages growth, and inspires others to love nursing as much as she does. In 2024, her forward-thinking contributions were recognized when she was named Innovative Nurse of the Year for NGHS, a testament to her leadership, creativity, and innovation.
Aimee’s career reflects the highest ideals of the nursing profession: service, resilience, and lifelong learning. In March 2025, even as she continued to face her own personal health battles, she achieved national certification in Obstetric and Neonatal Quality and Safety (C-ONQS). This accomplishment underscored her commitment to advancing the science and practice of nursing for future generations and her commitment to continue advancing her knowledge as a professional registered nurse.
Her legacy is not only found in the programs she helped create or the recognition she earned, but it also lives on in the nurses she mentored, the families she empowered and cared for, and the countless lives she touched. As she transitions into her most treasured role, “MiMi,” Aimee leaves behind a standard of excellence, a beacon of courage, and a heart of empathy and compassion that will continue to guide and inspire her colleagues long after her formal nursing career has ended.
Aimee’s contributions to the nursing profession and her lasting influence across the care continuum illuminate her as a beacon of light for the nursing profession. For her lifetime of service, her unshakable resilience, and her profound contributions to patients, colleagues, and the nursing profession, Aimee Palmer is most deserving of The DAISY Lifetime Achievement Award.
