Her voice, gentle touch, and active listening made me feel safe, supported, and cared for.
I had surgery at Providence St. John’s. Aimee was my pre-op nurse, and she is just sensational. She is 100 percent patient-centered, communicates clearly and with warmth (and I could hear her do that not only with me but with other patients and staff), and possesses a tremendous ability to provide comfort during times of anxiety.
I've had a tough year that started with the loss of my father, then I had vocal cord surgery, and I recently received a breast cancer diagnosis. Aimee helped me feel less scared and alone as I prepared for my last surgery, for I traveled from out of town, and she shared how exceptional my surgeon is (which I knew). Her voice, gentle touch, and active listening made me feel safe, supported, and cared for.
My mother was a nurse at Providence St. John’s many years ago, and she has said that of the 10+ hospitals she worked at throughout her career, the nurses at St. John’s were the very finest. Aimee is a testament to that. She made such an impact that when I received a call yesterday, in anticipation of a follow-up surgery I'm having today, I immediately recognized her voice. I asked for the email address of her supervisor so I could share how appreciative I am to have had my experience with her.
Aimee is special.
