Our son was born 2.5 months early. This was a very scary and uncertain time for my husband and me. Aimee Cibiras was the NICU nurse who cared for our son the night he was born.
The first time we got to come to the NICU and see him, Aimee met us at his bedside and helped us understand the care he would be receiving. She took time to really explain everything to us on a level we could understand. From that night on we requested to have Aimee as his nurse as much as possible.
Each time we came to the NICU Aimee was always smiling, cheerful, and truly looked as though she loved her job. This made us feel so much more comfortable seeing our son with a nurse with such a passion. Neither my husband nor I have any medical background, so we really did not know the proper questions to ask concerning the daily routines, care, and procedures our son would have.
Each time Aimee was our nurse, we never had to struggle to communicate our questions or concerns. She always filled us in completely on the news of the day in great detail. Aimee is a shining star among the NICU nurses at USA Children's and Women's Hospital and deserves this DAISY Award for her extraordinary nursing ability and care for her patients and their families.
