My life partner had a nephrostomy procedure at Banner Gateway Medical Center and was discharged to a skilled nursing facility. About halfway through his anticipated stay at the facility, his sodium spiked, and I had him transported back to Banner Gateway. I would like to recognize Ahlam, who has been our nurse for most of our stay.

She is so efficient, caring, and wonderful. Ahlam is so very gentle with patients, knowledgeable, and never too busy to explain things, several times if necessary. I have never come across a nurse who is so kind, smart, and empathetic to both the patient and to me, the family. Things took a very unexpected turn, and we will be leaving for Hospice tomorrow. My heart is shattered.

Ahlam has been such a comfort in helping me process and make what time I have left with my very loved one, a time of remembrance and caring. Ahlam is the whole package and represents what kind of nurses and health care professionals should be: overly competent, caring, empathetic, and someone with a very beautiful heart and desire to help others get through the best and the worst, with a beautiful smile.
