She made sure all the boxes were checked so that my chances of eventually adopting her wouldn't be put at risk by a missed step.
My whole world was turned upside down when I learned that there was a baby girl in the NICU who needed a foster parent. As the days passed and I got certified to care for the baby by DHS, I was alone, and my head was spinning with all the emotions. All of her nurses were absolutely fantastic, but Addy took it to the next level. She made sure all the boxes were checked so that my chances of eventually adopting her wouldn't be put at risk by a missed step. She decorated her room so it felt more like a nursery and saved the first bath for me to participate in. Addy was always reminding me to take pictures to capture the moments and made me feel like I wasn't alone. I asked for Addy to be her primary nurse and was so thankful she agreed to. We got to a point where she was stuck at a certain liter of oxygen, and because of Addy's attention to detail and care, she was able to pinpoint what worked best for her. I'm convinced she came home without oxygen, largely thanks to Addy's amazing care! Every parent needs an Addy at their baby's bedside to reassure them that their precious new child is in the absolute best hands possible.
