July 2026 Honoree
Adewunmi Oladipo, MSN, RN, CCRN, SCRN
I am honored to nominate Wunmi Oladipo for the DAISY Nurse Educator Award. Wunmi's impact on the 3S Observation Unit and all 3 ICUs, specifically 3ICU, is truly
exceptional. Wunmi is much more than an educator. She is a mentor, coach, advocate, and trusted resource. Her knowledge, compassion, and dedication create an environment where nurses feel supported, valued, and empowered to succeed. She has cultivated a psychologically safe space where staff feel comfortable asking
questions, seeking guidance, and growing professionally.
As the units have expanded, Wunmi has been intentional about developing others, particularly our preceptors and CSCs. She consistently shares practical tips,
tricks, and pearls of wisdom that help build confidence and competence. She doesn't just teach skills; she develops leaders. Through her mentorship, she inspires
staff to recognize their own potential and challenges them to grow into stronger clinicians and leaders.
One of Wunmi's greatest strengths is her visibility and presence. Through intentional rounding and meaningful conversations, she takes time to understand staff needs, address concerns, and identify learning opportunities. She is always willing to listen, answer questions, and provide individualized support, ensuring that no nurse feels alone in their journey. One of Wunmi's most impressive qualities is her ability to navigate difficult conversations with grace, professionalism, and empathy. Whether addressing performance concerns, coaching through challenging situations, or providing constructive feedback, she makes conversations feel seamless and supportive rather than punitive. Nurses leave these discussions feeling heard, respected, and validated, while still gaining a clear understanding of the root cause and the path forward. Her balanced approach fosters accountability without diminishing confidence, creating an environment where staff feel safe to grow, learn from mistakes, and continuously improve.
Wunmi played a key role in restructuring orientation processes to better support new team members and strengthen onboarding experiences. She continually
seeks ways to improve educational resources and learning opportunities, helping nurses build both confidence and clinical excellence. What is especially remarkable is that Wunmi's influence reaches well beyond 3S and 3ICU. She is a trusted reference point for nurses, leaders, and educators throughout the hospital. Many seek her out for advice, guidance, and expert insight because they know she will provide thoughtful, knowledgeable, and compassionate support. Her willingness to help others, regardless of department, demonstrates her deep commitment to nursing excellence and the success of those around her.
Wunmi genuinely cares, not only about the unit she serves, but about every individual she encounters. She invests in people, celebrates their successes, supports them through challenges, and consistently goes above and beyond to help them thrive. Her passion for education and professional development is evident in everything she does. Because of Wunmi's leadership, mentorship, and dedication, our staff are stronger, our culture is healthier, and our patients ultimately receive better care. She
exemplifies the very essence of the DAISY Nurse Educator Award, and I can think of no one more deserving of this recognition.
