With the help of the other RN on shift, Adamah was able to obtain the gifts early and have them ready for our patients to wake up to.
Adamah goes above and beyond for her patients, and her greatest display of this was on Christmas Eve. She created Christmas magic for our two overstay patients who had struggled with being in the hospital for the holidays. The patients had already received the majority of their gifts from the day team and would have to wait to receive the rest on Christmas Day. One of these patients still believed in Santa and was worried Santa wouldn't come to the hospital, so to have no presents outside his door would have ruined the magic for him.

With the help of the other RN on shift, Adamah was able to obtain the gifts early and have them ready for our patients to wake up to, along with personalized letters from Santa that she created with what she knows about the patients - their favorite things, activities, and personalities. She also decorated the unit. Adamah did this quietly and humbly, no recognition expected. It wasn't until my shift tonight that I found out she was the mastermind behind this.

This is just one story of how Adamah advocates for her patients and gets to know them on a personal level. As a new nurse, she is constantly asking questions, wanting to know the "why" behind processes. I am honored to work alongside her and am thankful for her contributions to 11W. Adamah certainly has the spirit for psychiatry and pediatrics. I hope she sticks with it.
