Today, our Charge RN, Adama John, went above and beyond in providing support and care not just to the patient but to the family. A patient was transferred from another facility for hepatic encephalopathy with a history of breast cancer. The son visits daily with the wife and is very involved in the care of the patient. Today, Adama noticed that the son seemed depressed and tired, and she started having conversations about caregiver fatigue. The son opened up to her about losing his dad at an early age, and that it has always been him and his mom ever since. He verbalized that he's not ready to accept anything about losing his mom, or can't even bear the thought of losing her. Adama consoled him and even gave the son a hug as he started breaking down. Adama made sure that she explained about taking care of himself and getting enough rest. The son was very appreciative of the gesture and show of compassion from Adama.
