July 2026 Honoree
Adam Mashburn, RN
My daughter has been battling severe ulcerative colitis for more than a year. In recent weeks, she has endured two blood transfusions, an urgent colonoscopy, and countless needle sticks. Because she experiences severe anxiety around needles, every appointment has been extremely difficult.
We drove 2.5 hours to Hoover for her first infusion, feeling exhausted and nervous. He carefully explained the infusion process and medication, then patiently reassured my daughter about the IV. Before she even had time to panic, Adam had placed the needle, and she did not even realize it. After everything she had experienced, his skill and compassion brought us both tremendous relief.
My daughter felt so comfortable that she chose to return to Adam for her next infusion. I would gladly make the 2.5-hour drive each time, knowing she is receiving such patient, caring, and knowledgeable support.
Adam is truly exceptional and represents everything a nurse should be.
Thank you, Adam, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
