I had a massive trauma where I ended up completely breaking my tibia and fibula with a spiral fracture. Adam was incredibly attentive and on top of everything the whole shift, and was doing a great job of explaining everything to the nursing student that was with him. Where Adam became DAISY Award worthy was when I hit an out of control extreme situation with the leg that had broken and was surgically repaired the day prior. He not only got everyone involved immediately to help address the situation, but he also thought creatively in different ways to help me medically, and his empathy was amazing, always staying calm and collected. The biggest difference is when he pulled up a chair and was just there with me through this storm. Most nurses would have, of course, advocated for the patient and looped in the right people. But, I will never forget his acumen in the face of a scary situation and his fortitude of being in the trenches with me. He has an amazingly bright future ahead of him, and any patient would be lucky to have him as a nurse. He truly cares.
