I am taking this opportunity to tell you about my recent stay at Our Lady of Lourdes and the phenomenal team of professionals who cared for me.

My wife and I are senior citizens and have a two-year-old daughter who has cerebral palsy. I did not want them exposed to the hospital setting. However, after a couple of days spent in agony – pain and vomiting, I finally agreed to have my wife drive me to Our Lady of Lourdes. My experience in the emergency room through discharge was excellent. I encountered so many caring and professional healthcare workers.

Brandon Dowden – in the ER was the first. The gentleman was so accommodating and compassionate to me and toward my wife and daughter. I began to feel that I was indeed safe. He monitored me and spoke with a physician who authorized him to give me meds to ease the pain. He informed me that I would be admitted.

Hanna Broussard- I was taken to my room and a nurse named Hanna came in and began to take care of me. She was there every day of my stay and was the epitome of professionalism.  Hanna told me what was occurring with my care plan for me and that she would be there throughout the evening. She checked my vitals and asked about my pain level, monitored my IV, checked my feet, and asked me about my level of comfort regarding the temperature in the room and overall treated me as if I were her only patient, which I’m sure I was not. During my stay, Hanna was so endearing to me that I told her before I left, I would adopt her as my daughter because I would love my daughter to grow into the type of person she exhibited herself to be to me.

Bonnie Arceneaux: I also cannot say enough about her level of compassion and care toward me. Bonnie was quite attentive to me and insisted that if there was anything I needed or that she could do for me. I should not hesitate to contact her. Bonnie’s personality, along with her professionalism, was exceptional. After I was informed I would be having surgery, she was extremely comforting. She enjoyed my jokes about being underfed and requesting a porterhouse and a baked potato and assured me I could have that after I left her care.  I was called to surgery on short notice, and Bonnie advocated for me, in that I received all the proper preparation to ensure the best outcome.

Misty Daigle - like the other two nurses - was so professional. I felt like I was in a commercial for caring nurses. I was truly not expecting to have a third nurse who was as compassionate as the first two, but…there she was.   Misty talked to me about music and other things we found we both enjoyed. Her level of care was no less than that of the others. Misty was on duty when I was discharged and spoke to my wife, who was so appreciative of the way Misty interacted with her. My wife also expressed how caring and professional Misty was during her time there.

Dr. Kaufman explained my procedure to me so clearly that I knew I was literally in good hands. He is amazing, and so smooth he should audition for the role of James Bond!!! I was impressed with his caring and calming demeanor and felt blessed to have had him as my doctor.

In closing, thank you for having such professionalism and gracious people in your employ of the hospital. Please express my gratitude to everyone I mentioned, and know if I ever need care in a hospital again, I will choose Our Lady of Lourdes. If you ever make a commercial for broadcast, Brandon, Hanna, Bonnie, Misty, and Dr. Kaufman are the portrait of professionalism and compassion.
