Abbie McCaig is one of those rare nurses who just gets it. As a new grad, she already brings an incredible amount of skill, grace, and compassion to her role. She’s especially amazing with patients who are more challenging—those “touch-me-not” individuals who require a whole lot of patience and understanding. Abbie handles those situations with such calm and kindness that it’s genuinely inspiring.

I’ve been consistently blown away by her knowledge, but even more so by her teamwork. On a recent shift, I was swamped and feeling pretty overwhelmed. Without being asked, Abbie sat outside of a patient’s room to complete frequent vital signs, something many would delay or push off. Not Abbie. She didn’t hesitate to step in, not just for that one patient, but for several others as well. She supported me without question, all while managing her own patients with the same level of care and attention. Her communication, work ethic, and genuine team spirit are top-notch. Working with Abbie makes me proud to be a CNA. Nurses like her remind me why I love what I do—and why patients are lucky to have someone like her at their bedside.
