Abby has done so much to assist her staff in so many ways. I can honestly say that when she was given the job as Clinician, I was wondering (worried) just how good she would do. Well, it did not take long for me to see all the extraordinary skills she has to offer UPMC Hanover. As a nightshift worker, we do not get to see our "Managers" too often. Abby makes it a point to come in early daily to see and meet with every nightshift worker that she oversees. She has gained the trust of her staff by returning all emails and texts sent to her. If she does not have the answer, Abby is quick to get an answer for us. She has complete follow-through with all tasks given to her. She has complete respect for all she comes in contact with. No questions or concerns are "Dumb", and she will take the time needed to reply with her responses. Abby shows compassion not only with the staff she deals with, but I have seen her treat patients with nothing but dignity, respect, and compassion. Abby has never turned a staff member away when she is asked to help with patient care. In a matter of fact, she will offer herself up to help, especially when she sees it's needed. 

Along with her strong talents of respect, compassion, and trust, Abby encourages all staff to continue to expand with professional development. She encourages growth with continuing education, climbing the Nursing Career Ladder, and shares all educational material sent to her. She shares her visions of continued growth within UPMC. 

I have known Abby since she started here. Abby has certainly dedicated herself to her nursing career as Clinician at UPMC Hanover. I have watched her grow over the years. I have watched her dedication in not only improving herself but watching the dedication in the assistance of improving those around her. 

Abby deserves this award more than anyone I know. We have so many that I know deserve this, but Abby has come so far over the years I have worked with her, and this recognition is well deserved. Abby is a true role model.
