Abbie has the ability to balance her clinical experience with human connection.
Abbie is an exceptional leader, coworker, transport partner, and human. As the manager of the pediatric critical care transport team, Abbie has built a program focused on clinical excellence, mutual respect, and accountability. Her ability to navigate tricky social situations and advocate for all parties with grace and compassion is amazing. She always seems to be a person who will listen, provide unbiased feedback, and not feed into unhelpful gossip.

Abbie is reliable, trustworthy, and talented. She deserves to be recognized for the work that she puts into her role/patients, and the team reporting to her! Abbie is the best leader! Abbie is the brains and workhorse behind the development and success of the Pediatric Transport Team. Prior to the launch in March 2025, Abbie worked tirelessly to create the program and all the logistics that come with a new department at a top-notch children's hospital. Since the program started, she has continued to fine-tune and manage all aspects of the team while also being an active provider on the team.

Thus far, the team has transported nearly 300 patients without an adverse event, which is in large part due to Abbie's planning and oversight. With Abbie's influence, the transport program has directly led to a positive impact on western/central Michigan and the referring hospital's pediatric patients. Abbie exemplifies compassionate leadership by fostering a workplace rooted in trust, empathy, and mutual respect. She not only supports our professional growth through encouragement and unwavering support. She also works alongside us, modeling the collaboration and dedication that she expects from her team.

Her ability to lead with compassion while actively engaging in the day-to-day creates an environment where people feel valued, motivated, and empowered to thrive. Our new program would not be able to provide amazing care without the foundations Abbie has painstakingly built for us as our leader.

Abbie exemplifies the heart of nursing leadership through her unwavering commitment to her team, her ability to navigate change with grace, and the consistent positivity that uplifts everyone around her. Abbie leads with intention and integrity. She listens deeply, not just to words, but to the needs behind them. Her approachability and genuine concern for others create a safe space where team members feel heard, valued, and supported. Whether it's a complex transport situation or a team-wide transition (which we have had a lot of, being a new team), Abbie remains calm, communicative, and collaborative. Her adaptability is one of her greatest strengths.

In a field where change is constant, and starting a new program, Abbie embraces it with a forward-thinking mindset. She manages the change, and she leads our team through it, helping others find clarity and confidence in uncertain moments. Her ability to pivot while maintaining high standards of care and team morale is truly inspiring.

Above all, Abbie brings positivity into every interaction. Her energy is contagious, and her encouragement fuels resilience in those around her. She celebrates wins, lifts spirits during challenges, and always finds a way to remind her team of their purpose and impact. Abbie Woudwyk is not only a wonderful manager, but she is a cornerstone of our Pediatric Critical Care Transport team's strength and success. Her leadership is a model of compassion, adaptability, and excellence, and she is more than deserving of the DAISY Nurse Leader Award.

Abbie demonstrates tremendous leadership skills for the Pediatric Critical Care Transport Team. She is invested in each and every employee and works tirelessly to help facilitate growth and teamwork within. Her positive attitude and willingness/fierce belief that she can solve any challenge that arises is a testament to her dedication to her team. She actively seeks out ideas and input from team members and often uses that feedback to make changes. We are so lucky to have her!

Abbie embodies the very essence of what it means to be a nurse leader. Her compassion, role modeling, and support she gives to our entire pediatric critical care transport team are inspiring. Abbie goes above and beyond to support her team, as well as setting an example of how to provide safe and compassionate patient care. She has an unwavering dedication to making improvements to patient care.
