I am writing to nominate Abbey H for the DAISY Award, recognizing her exceptional care and dedication in supporting my daughter during her first surgery.

From the moment we arrived, Abbey displayed a warmth and kindness that immediately put us at ease. As any parent would understand, watching your child undergo surgery is incredibly stressful, filled with anxiety and fear. Abbey went above and beyond to ensure not only my daughter’s comfort but also mine.

She took the time to explain every step of the pre-operative process in terms that were easy for us to understand, ensuring that my daughter felt informed and included rather than overwhelmed. Her compassionate demeanor and soothing voice helped to calm my daughter’s nerves, as she listened patiently to all her concerns and answered her questions with genuine empathy.

She engaged her in light conversation, sharing stories and even a few jokes that made my daughter smile, easing the tension in the room. I really appreciated that she came out to let us know our daughter was beginning to wake up and that the recovery nurse would come get us soon. Another example of her commitment to her patients and compassion.
