I would like to nominate the Charge Nurse for a DAISY Award because they made such a meaningful difference in my care. Even though they had the responsibility of being the Charge Nurse, he took the time to check on me throughout the day and made me feel like I truly mattered. What impressed me most was how he balanced leading the unit while still providing such personal, compassionate care. He treated me with dignity and respect, and he respected my concerns to make me feel safe every step of the way.

One of the things that touches me most was that he noticed I wasn’t eating. Instead of letting it go, he gently encouraged me to eat and made sure I had food. The simple act showed me that he cared for me as a whole person, not just for treating my medical condition. He also made me laugh when I needed it most. He truly exemplifies the compassion, advocacy, and extraordinary nursing the DAISY Award was created to recognize. He is incredibly deserving of this honor. In big and small ways, he cared for me and made me feel seen.
