I find this award's name especially fitting. Daisies are among nature's most adaptable flowers. They thrive in various pH levels, withstand strong winds and heavy rain, and remain resilient even in the harshest conditions. In many ways, they remind me of unit 5300. I vividly recall one day when there were 4 emergency calls nearly back-to-back. Without hesitation, every nurse came together to support one another; because of that teamwork, those patients were cared for exceptionally well, and every patient in the unit received the attention and compassion they needed. It was seamless, calm, and extraordinary.

I do not have family. No one visited me or called to see if I was OK. I say this not for sympathy; it is simply a fact. Because of that, the care I received from them meant more to me than ever. The nurses on this unit treated me like family, offering compassion, presence, and genuine concern when I truly needed it. I want every nurse on 5300, and the float nurses who came through, to know how profoundly their work matters. The difference you make is something neither I nor any patient you care for will ever forget. I understand that today's award nominations are typically meant for one individual, but I respectfully wish to honor the entire unit. Like daisies, this unit has formed a beautiful, dense cluster, standing strong together, supporting one another, and playing an essential role in the healing and well-being of every patient they touch.

Thank you for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
