Our experience with your unit was amazing, and we wanted to list some of the nurses and staff so that they could be recognized.
• Camille - She always had a smile on her face and genuinely cared about her patients. Even when there was a lot going on, she never made me feel rushed or an inconvenience when I had a question.
• Khristian - Male night nurse who was super cool and relatable.
• Tonya - She brought up flowers and an Amazon package that we did not realize was left at the front desk. She always took the time to chat, if she could, and genuinely cared.
• Deandria - She took the time to braid my hair so it was out of my face and stopped getting caught in the tape from the NG tube. My hair is on the longer side, and this act was greatly appreciated.
• Sam - She also braided my hair and was able to think outside of the box in regards to PT and considered my limb difference.
• Alexandria - She was so sweet in answering my questions, checking my incisions, advocating to get the NG tube out, and connecting with Dr. L to ensure continuity of care.
It has been almost six weeks since my stay as I write this, and we did not keep great notes on everyone like we had hoped we would.
Other names we had noted as great staff were Adina, Nadeen, Maggie, and Jen. There were also many other staff we cannot recall or never got the names of (cleaning team, maintenance staff, dietary team, security, etc.).
The team overall was in good spirits, put the patient's needs as a priority, and were highly attentive. Even nurses/nursing aides that were not assigned to me would jump in to help and would assist my husband when he was seeking care for me.
I am a "frequent flyer" with hospital stays as a patient (but also as support for others) and would have to say that the team here created one of the best experiences I have had.
The staff was not there to "clock in and do a job or task" - they genuinely cared, and their focus was on the patients. They were pleasant, personable, and truly empowered to care for the patients.
This is also a testament to your leadership and the environment that you have built for them. My husband has seen the effects of leadership on many levels and stated that leadership dictates the environment. He stated that the leadership is doing wonders for the nurses, nursing aides, and staff there, which ultimately creates the experience that we were able to have, especially for situations like these that can be trying for the patient as well as the family/caregivers.
