The kindness and generosity of the second-floor team have no bounds. This dedicated group continues to demonstrate skillful and compassionate care every day. They support one another through team-building, resilience, and wellness events that also extend kindness to their community.

During one of their Hike, Bike, and BBQ events, the team collected food and toys for a local animal shelter. Their unit holiday party gathered items for a women’s shelter, and they also participated in the Alzheimer’s Walk. At Thanksgiving, the team collected food for a local store that provides essential items free of charge to hardworking individuals in need.

The second floor is also home to many of our cancer patients, where the team provides comfort and advocacy during some of life’s most difficult moments. One story that stands out involves a nurse who noticed a patient in tears. The patient shared that his 15-year-old service dog was at risk of being sent to a shelter with a high likelihood of being euthanized.

In true teamwork fashion, another nurse stepped forward to foster the dog. When the dog required extensive dental surgery and the costs began to rise, the entire second-floor team came together to help cover the expenses. That same nurse later adopted the dog and continues to bring him in to visit his owner, bringing joy and comfort to both.

These are only a few examples of the extraordinary compassion, collaboration, and humanity that define the second-floor team
