A patient missed his graduation from high school while admitted on 2 West. The staff wanted to celebrate and give him and his family a ceremony before his discharge!

After a quick trip to Walmart for decorations, which included balloons, streamers, headbands, and more, the 2 West team prepared for the ceremony. Staff put their creative minds to work and made a graduation cap from our red patient folders and the tassel from a face mask. A laminated diploma certificate was made and presented to the patient with staff signatures. The ceremony even included the "graduation" procession song.

Compassion was evident as tears flowed from staff, nursing students, and the family. 

The family wanted to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at WakeMed and the 2 West team.
