Join us for a year-long journey created just for you. As DAISY has grown, the role of the DAISY Coordinator has become even more important, and more complex. That’s why this year (and beyond), we’re putting you at the center. Our goal is simple, help you streamline your program so you can spend less time on logistics and more time on what matters most- celebrating nurses and sharing their extraordinary stories.
Each month, we’ll guide you through one small, meaningful action that creates big, lasting impact. Finish all 12 by year’s end, and you’ll receive a special token of gratitude from DAISY Co-Founders Mark and Bonnie Barnes, recognizing you as a distinguished DAISY Coordinator and honoring your dedication to our mission.
We can’t wait to spend this year supporting and recognizing you!
January is all about strengthening your DAISY Program with the support you deserve. Our most successful programs have two or more DAISY Coordinators and a multidisciplinary committee/ team.
From retired nurses to HR, anyone can be a DAISY helper- and we’ll show you exactly how! Click the link to discover simple, ready-to-use resources created just for you.
This month, your mini-challenge is to invite more team members to support you with your DAISY Award Program.
We’ve created invitations, posters, and ready-to-use materials to help you spread the word. A few minutes of outreach now can lead to hours of support later!
This month we are highlighting Northeast Georgia Health System’s DAISY Coordinator Gina Buffington!
Gina, DAISY helpers, and her committee run the DAISY program across their 5 campus locations and average 550 nominations per month. Gina attributes the nomination volume to the number of posters, flyers, banners and in room TV screen awareness for DAISY as well as leader rounding.
While every nomination is recognized, those that exceed criteria expectations go to the selection committee for voting.
On DAISY Award days, Gina is decked out in daisy themed wear, including yellow daisy shoes. Her creativity is boundless as you can see by their DAISY cart and in The Making of a Nurse: A Metaphor in Stone she wrote for their large healer’s touch dedication.
Thank you, Gina for all of the energy, dedication and innovation you bring in your role as DAISY Coordinator!
"Being a DAISY Coordinator allows me to see the incredible work that our nurses do here in our organization. I am honored to recognize them and celebrate their amazing care. I am blessed to serve in this capacity for our hospital system.”
We’re taking on the responsibility of communicating with DAISY Honorees about their Spotlight and benefits so you no longer have to! Starting soon, you’ll simply include the Honoree’s work email on the registration form, and we’ll send them the Spotlight (copying you, of course), and offer them the opportunity to sign up for notifications on their benefits. Stay tuned for more information on this exciting update!
