FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Strategic Partners, Inc. and The DAISY Foundation Announce Recipients of the 2018 Cherokee Medical Uniforms Nursing Conference Scholarship

LOS ANGELES – (January 9, 2018) – Strategic Partners, Inc., a leader in the manufacturing and marketing of medical uniforms and medical footwear, including leading brand Cherokee Medical Uniforms, and The DAISY FoundationTM, are pleased to announce the recipients of the 2018 Cherokee Medical Uniforms Nursing Conference Scholarship Program.

Realizing the challenges Nurses were facing to cover the costs to further their education, Cherokee Medical Uniforms created the Cherokee Medical Uniforms Nursing Conference Scholarship Program. This annual program provides financial assistance to DAISY Award Honorees who are pursuing continuing education credits to support their licensure, credentialing or overall professional development.

Jamie Bach, a 2017 scholarship recipient stated, “What an incredible collaboration between Cherokee Scrubs and The DAISY Foundation. They have empowered me to take my critical care nursing to an international level at the Canadian Critical Care Conference. This scholarship will definitely help improve my knowledge base and critical care skills. It will also allow me to bring new innovations and evidence based practice updates back to my staff, ultimately improving our patient care in our extremely busy ICU.”

“I’m especially grateful for the Cherokee Nursing Scholarship program in this era of hospitals’ declining funds for continuing education for staff. This award allowed me to attend The Southeast Region Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nurses’ Society 2017 Conference that took place in Knoxville, TN in September, with ALL expenses paid,” said Anne-Marie Jones, another 2017 scholarship recipient. “Additionally, I had funds remaining that allowed me to purchase resources such as textbooks. Having been a registered nurse since 1982, I value continuing education and lifelong learning more each year as our profession evolves and changes. Receiving the DAISY Award was such a tremendous honor at this point in my career, and I so appreciate Cherokee’s commitment to recognizing and rewarding excellence in nursing.”

More than 1000 DAISY Award recipients have applied for this scholarship since its inception. The panel of judges, representing a cross section of nursing leaders, is responsible for making the difficult decision of selecting the scholarship recipients from a very competitive field. The DAISY Foundation and Cherokee Uniforms offer congratulations to the following individuals on being selected to receive one of the ten $2,000 scholarships in 2018:

“It is a big honor for us to play a role in helping nurses further their careers,” said Mike Singer, CEO, Strategic Partners, Inc. “We created this scholarship program in 2017 to expand our support of The DAISY Foundation and DAISY Nurses. We are delighted to see the impact on the recipients, who we know will make important contributions in the lives of their patients.”

Bonnie Barnes, co-founder of The DAISY Foundation, said, “Cherokee Medical Uniforms has been supporting our mission since 2009, and this new scholarship offer to DAISY Honorees has taken the company’s commitment to a whole new level. We are so proud of our partnership that helps nurses advance their careers with this unique program. Clearly, there is a need for this kind of program, and we are thrilled to help fill it.”
