Kat went and bought her some soup as she was cold and hungry. Then after her work hours, she went with the patient on the shuttle to the ED to be sure she arrived safely.
Kat is a nurse in our primary care practice at MGH and is always so helpful and kind to our patients. One example of Kat’s kindness is: Our practice is about half a mile from MGH main campus and an elderly patient from our practice needed to be transported to the ED but did not need an ambulance. The patient was on chronic oxygen, and it was going to be difficult to take the shuttle by herself with the tank. Kat’s shift was ending in 45 minutes when the next shuttle would be available for the patient. While the patient was waiting, Kat went and bought her some soup as she was cold and hungry. Then after her work hours, she went with the patient on the shuttle to the ED to be sure she arrived safely. She then walked the half mile back to our office to return the office’s oxygen tank. This is just one example of her going above and beyond for a patient.

Another example is her relentlessly calling various agencies to find resources for a patient who did not have any family or friends to pick her up after a colonoscopy. Kat is such an asset to our practice and embodies all of the qualities of a DAISY Nurse. Thank you, Kat!
