She made me feel special and that the hospital was not so scary, she played games with me. Jean was more like my friend in a scary place.
My daughter, V, was in the hospital for a double kidney infection and severe anemia. We had spent months going back-and-forth to doctors being told that nothing was wrong. Finally, I took her to the emergency room, and she was diagnosed, admitted and put on Ellison 17. That’s where we met Jean; she was absolutely amazing.

V was scared and wouldn’t talk much. She didn’t want to take medication and Jean completely got her out of her shell and made her feel good. V eventually got up and went to the playroom. She was even willing to let them change her IV without screaming all because of Jean.

Jean made the difference in my daughter’s treatment during her stay at MGH before she was our nurse. V was very sad and completely frightened; she didn’t want to talk to anyone and wouldn’t tell the doctors how she was feeling or what was wrong and would scream if anyone touched her or tried to go near her IV. Jean completely turned my daughter’s mind around about hospitals and that the nurses & doctors care about you.

Jean went above and beyond and would even help my daughter with her iPad or anything else she needed. I was so happy to have her and we were lucky enough to get her three times during our stay. It was Jean who changed V’s attitude and helped her heal.

I was very nervous when I had to go home and take care of my one-year-old and my mother came to stay with my daughter. Jean reassured me, and since V was her only patient at that moment was able to help my mother and take extremely good care of her. She put my mind at ease, and she made me feel like my daughter was perfectly safe and in great hands.

Jean is the reason V started taking her medication on her own before she was her nurse it was a constant fight for her to take medicine. V is only five years old. She just turned five and was taking all her meds on her own just from Jean sitting and speaking to her instead of speaking over her. Jean made her feel important, helped her take her medication, and stayed with her while she did.

I can’t say enough about Jean, she’s wonderful, and hope to get a nurse as half as wonderful as Jean if any of my family or friends ever happen to be in the hospital in the future!

My name is V my mom is helping me fill this out she did one for Jean, but I want to do my own. I like Jean a lot she was really nice to me. She made me feel better when I was afraid.

I was really sick, and in the hospital, Jean was my nurse she was so nice to me she helped me breathe when I got so scared. I felt like I couldn’t breathe she would make me smile when I was sad, she would sit with me if I needed her, and she had fun ways to take the yucky medicine. She made me feel special and that the hospital was not so scary, she played games with me. Jean was more like my friend in a scary place.  She did not hurt me when she had to get my blood.

I’m very happy I met her and want to see her again, but I don’t want to be in the hospital again. Please please give Jean the DAISY Award she really deserves it she was the best nurse ever, she made me not be afraid and made me feel like I was special, and made me feel like a beautiful princess.

Jean makes kids feel better and happy she deserves this award please give it to her.

P.S. Jean is a special nurse, and I want to make her feel special and happy like she made me feel, and I think this would make her feel special!
