Britney Butler sat with a patient’s family member who was grieving the loss of his wife. He had been married to his wife for a very long time and had no family at bedside. During her med pass, which is a very busy time for all the nursing staff, she heard the husband in the room crying. She stopped everything that she was doing and made time to sit with the husband. She provided care not only for his wife but also for him in his time of need. She made sure that he had an appropriate ride home and reassured him.
