Selecting Your DAISY Honoree

We ask that Honorees be recognized for their exceptional compassion, advocacy, leadership and going “above and beyond” to impact the healthcare experience for others in a positive way. Below are suggestions on how to evaluate your nominations and make a selection.

  • Organize all submitted nominations:
    • Binder to store paper nominations
    • Electronic folder for online nominations
    • Excel document to track all Honorees and Nominees

  • Blind nominations before giving them to the selection committee.  “White Out”  the name and any other identifying factors so there is no bias and committee members are basing their decision on the story.  (Remember to keep a set of originals!).

  • Consider using a scoring rubric to guide in the selection process.  We have a sample rubric in the Resource Center or create your own.  Points or scoring ranges are applied based on each area of your criteria. The highest scoring nomination is your Honoree, if there is a tie the nominations are discussed and voted on.
