April celebrated this young child's huge accomplishment with a giant balloon and a trail of confetti.
April has a truly pure, genuine, and caring heart. These qualities make her one of our most valuable Post-Anesthesia Pediatric nurses. She consistently goes above and beyond for her patients and their families.

Recently, one of her acts of kindness stood out. The operating room called report on a 5-year-old child who had their chemo port removed because the child's cancer was gone. The child was in remission! This is a huge deal for any patient, but especially so for a young child and the family celebrating the end of a life-altering diagnosis and all that accompanies that. The OR report said the child was expected in PACU in 10-15 minutes. April acted without hesitation to plan and coordinate a celebration for this child, despite it being a busy day in the PACU. She utilized her resources and had our unit HUC go to the gift shop to get a balloon for the young girl while April made a few phone calls to organize everything. She managed to gather multiple staff members, including doctors from the patient's team to coordinate a confetti send-off! April celebrated this young child's huge accomplishment with a giant balloon and a trail of confetti.

The young patient not only loved her balloon but also loved confetti being thrown in her honor as she left the recovery room, cancer-free, heading home with a new start. The parents were extremely thankful for this as they left with tears in their eyes. April was not asked to coordinate this but simply did so out of the kindness of her own heart. She made a mark on that sweet patient and every staff member who witnessed her extraordinary care!!
