I was admitted to the hospital on the fourth of August for a back surgery with Dr. F. I am also a cardiac and AMS patient in the same Carle network. The AMS department handled my Lovenox shots to bridge me from my Coumadin before surgery as I have a metal heart valve and MUST have blood thinners. When I was being released on the fifth, I was given no instructions as far as Coumadin or Lovenox. On my ride home the AMS department called to check on me and make sure all my medications were correct. I informed Susan over the phone that I was concerned about not being on blood thinners. She calmed me down right away and informed me that she would get everything straightened out and promised to call me back right away. It was not long and she did just that and informed me that the much needed Lovenox shots were at my pharmacy waiting for me. There are no such words to say thank you enough to her. She saved me from a stroke or even death by checking on me that day along with her fast actions and follow through phone call. Nurses like her need to be cherished!
