I would like to nominate Stephanie Tims as a deserving recipient of the DAISY Award. The reason I feel that she is deserving of this is from two separate experiences with Stephanie.
My oldest daughter came in one year ago to the ER. She is not fond of the hospital, doctors, nurses, etc. However, on the evening we thought that my daughter had broken her foot. She was in a lot of pain as well as very upset. Stephanie came in and really calmed her down. She looked at her foot and was extremely gentle and professional. Stephanie talked to my daughter so that she could understand what was happening and really included her in the process. After we departed the hospital, my teen told me she though Stephanie was “really cool” and appreciated her being so nice.
Two weeks ago, my youngest had to go to the ER and Stephanie was our nurse again. She spent time with my youngest explaining in ways she could understand what was wrong and how they would fix it. When we were getting ready for discharge my youngest had to have an immunization. Stephanie was so sweet to let her know it might sting a little but it would make her better. When she went over the instructions with me, she also went over them with my daughter so she could understand and answered her questions.
From my vantage point in that room, I could see the staff and what was going on in the hallway. Stephanie was very energetic and ran circles around a lot of people. She has such a positive personality and was very caring to both of my children. Stephanie does not know, but I work for Baptist as well. I had the pleasure of witnessing someone taking care of a patient without knowing who she was.
I thank Stephanie for her help on those separate evenings. She helped make our visits wonderful and is truly an asset to the Baptist organization and the ED at Tipton
