As I wrap up my own employment at Winchester Hospital, I felt as though it was imperative to write this nomination as my last order of business. Michelle is an extraordinary employee and nurse, as well as an exemplary leader. She manages to be helpful and hardworking, while also being patient and kind. She is a force on C3 and a pillar of strength. She can do it all and is a constant source of knowledge, policy and skill. Mix that with a large dose of humor and you have the perfect Lead Clinical Nurse for C3.
Michelle often skips lunch and stays later in order to assist the nurses in caring for C3/Winchester Hospital patients. She takes the time to support the nurses in medication passes, RRT's patient education, and even in administrative duties. No task is too big or too menial for her, which exhibits her willingness to help. You can often find her clearing the hallways and stocking the mediation rooms. She will take on any task without question and never turns down someone's request for assistance. Thursday is the least favorite day of the week on C3 because that is Michelle's day off. The floor just doesn't feel right without her.
Michelle is the epitome of excellence in nursing. From her early days on C3 as a floor nurse to her easy transition into Lead Clinical Nurse, she has always demonstrated knowledge of practice, as well as incredible bedside manner. She still takes the time to sit with patients at the bedside to address their needs, listen to concerns, or educate them on pneumonia, COPD, or CHF. She even started a coffee card incentive program to encourage the nurses to educate their patients to testing themselves, so that the nurses are free to care for the rest of their assignment. She maintains all these standards by participating in multiple councils throughout the hospital. She is a great representative for C3 and Winchester Hospital across the board.
Although her role can be challenging, Michelle goes about her day with ease and a smile on her face. She must hear her name in her sleep because she is relied upon all day long. Not only is she a great resource for the staff, but she is also a confidante and friend to all.
I could go on forever about my dear friend Michelle because she is such a lovely person and an absolute joy to work with. If there were ever some type of "Golden DAISY Award", Michelle would take the honors hands down. I will forever treasure my time with Michelle on C3 and I feel lucky to have known her. Winchester Hospital staff and patients alike are beyond blessed!
