I have had the honor of being taken care of by Margie Natividad multiple times. On all occasions, she is a focused and driven nurse, with an outstanding performance. She is always there to assist with all my needs and carries a positive and friendly personality along with her, no matter circumstance. However, my reason for her nomination is much deeper than her extraordinary and compassionate care. I firmly believe Margie saved my life.
On a specific occasion, Margie happened to be in my room around 2:00 AM and I asked her to help me go to the bathroom since my mother was fast asleep and I didn't want to wake her. She helped me enter the bathroom, however when I was in there I suffered from severe pain and an allergic reaction that caused my throat to tighten and it was very difficult for me to breath. I had hoped Margie was still in the room and with me, with the little breath that I had, I tried to call her name. Fortunately, Margie made out my calling and hurried into the restroom. After that, it all happened so fast. I remember her carrying me to my bed, pulling the oxygen mask, and calling for assistance, all in a matter of seconds while remaining calm. I was so amazed and grateful to have had such an amazing nurse that night, because she did everything so perfectly without hesitation, making me think everything was going to be okay.
Therefore, I believe Margie is the ideal candidate for the DAISY Award. She is an extraordinary nurse who I will forever be thankful for.
