I received a call from a patient that visited SJMC Emergency Room. He said it was truly amazing to see our staff at work. During his visit there was a code called in the ED, he said that our staff was so calm and organized, even though the situation was very chaotic. There was a specific nurse, Katrina Smith, who simply amazed him.

He had been a previous patient in our ED and was shocked when nurse Katrina brought his medications with a warm glass of water yes warm she had remembered from his previous visit that cold water upset his stomach. He was stunned even after seeing so many patients that Katrina could remember a detail that really made a different to his comfort.

He finished the conversation with how the entire staff was great and should be recognized for their work in such a stressful environment. He wanted to be sure that Katrina was recognized for going above and beyond.
