My 2-day-old son was transferred to Children's for medical care and observation. My wife and I were immediately surrounded by beeping alarms, IV lines, and specialists frequently advising us on our newborn son's health status and potential problems he might face. I am a physician at Children's and am proud to say that every aspect of the care we received was professional and thorough from the time the transport ambulance picked us up until the moment our car pulled away after discharge. The care we received from all of our nursing staff was terrific, and two nurses, in particular, left indelible impressions on my wife and me.

Katherine was our day nurse on the first full day of admission. Admittedly, my wife and I were exhausted from the activities of a new delivery and the emotions of an unexpected potential health crisis. Katherine's professionalism, approach-ability, sincere caring, and attention to detail immediately put us at ease. She recognized our concerns ranging from difficulties breastfeeding to my fixation with the monitors and in a loving, caring, light-hearted and compassionate manner her superb communication and quiet confidence allowed us to rest easy and trust that our son was receiving the care he needed.

Thankfully, our son is doing well, and though we wish circumstances had not placed us in the hospital, we could not have asked for a better experience, thanks in large part to Katherine's care for our son and for us.
