We are writing to express our thanks and appreciation for the extraordinary care and attention Meggie showed our dad during his recent stay in the ICU at Roger Maris.
When we were moved to the ICU at Roger Maris, we all were all very nervous and daunted by the fear of the unknown. We didn't realize how lucky and comforted we were going to be having Meggie as our dad's nurse. We are so thankful that Meggie decided to go into nursing. She will excel at her career and gives the title of RN a great name!
Despite the struggles of enduring chemo for five years and the pain from cancer, our dad found blessings in his diagnosis. While hooked up to all kinds of medications in intensive care, he still managed to say thank you to his nurses. One night when Meggie was in his room attending to all seven of his IV bags, we were talking about his current condition. He told her, "It's okay, if it wasn't for this, I wouldn't have had the chance to meet such a great person as you." She was clearly overwhelmed with his gratitude and had to suddenly leave the room to "go get something".
We are truly grateful for the level of care and patience she was able to give. We want her to know the time she took to talk with us to better understand what was happening and just get to know us and our dad did not go unnoticed. When we talk to people about our experience in the ICU, we tell everyone that Sanford/Roger Maris has one of the best nurses working there and her name is Meggie!
