Kaitlyn held my daughter with me while she screamed in pain. My child is a special needs child with emotional, behavioral and anger issues. On Kaitlyn's first night she stayed or called for help from the chaplain from 10 pm until 1 am. She stroked my daughter's hair, held her hand, made sure all her pain and behavioral drugs were always on time. So as not to disturb her while she was sleeping, she taped the door so it could be opened with just a push, not rattling handles. She sat and prayed with us. She and my daughter sang "Amazing Grace" together. When my daughter was feeling better, she and Kaitlyn talked and joked as if they were old friends.

When I received this nomination form and told my daughter what is was for, she said Kaitlyn before I finished my sentence. I knew she would be there for my daughter, but she was there for me as well! She went above and beyond being my daughter's nurse. She was her Caregiver, Friend, Helper and a Spiritual Comfort for my daughter during the worst pain and time in her 16 years of life.

If there is anyone who deserves this award, it is Kaitlyn May!! She is truly an asset to the hospital and a blessing for her patients.

These are my daughter's words describing Kaitlyn: thoughtful, kind, caring, spiritual, she prayed with me, considerate, very helpful, comforting, overall she's a great person and after all she did for me, she deserved this Award!
