My youngest son had a seizure, he was in the ED to be assessed per my pediatrician's request. Steve was very kind and sweet to me and my child. After tests and a diagnosis of febrile seizure, we were discharged. On the way home to get Motrin and Tylenol in the parking lot of Walmart, he had another seizure. I called the ED and they told me to come back in. I was crying and so worried for my son. I felt embarrassed for crying and feeling like I am overreacting. Steve's demeanor, words, and kindness were not judgmental, but understanding. He cared for my son like he was his own. He reassured me professionally as a nurse and as a scared mom. We stayed in the ED till around 5:30AM. I was able to sleep a few hours because I knew Steve would check on him and keep his fever down. One time I had to use the bathroom, so Steve held my son and kindly reassured him that he was safe. His kindness and compassion show how Steve values the mission of St. Pats, and reassures a scared mom that her little boy is in great hands.
