When my doctor sent me to the ER, I admit it was very scary entering post-COVID-19. After a short while, I began to relax because every person in the ER was so kind, positive, and extremely in tune with my feelings. I was at Valley Hospital for 6 days and discharged on the 7th day.
When I was admitted I was sent to the B2 Surgical unit. This is a very outstanding floor. All nurses, staff, managers, all who work on the floor are OUTSTANDING. One morning I was walking down the hall and met a nurse I knew from a previous visit. She was so sweet and welcoming to me, and even remembered my name. I was blessed to be on 2B and now feeling more grateful because the nurses and everyone treated me like family.
When the shift changed the next morning, I met my nurse assigned to me. Her name is Ellen. I had such a warm feeling inside. This is the nurse who remembered my name! Wow! Ellen was my nurse for about a half-hour and I was feeling so comfortable and I felt like I was her only patient. Ellen is one of the most loving, warm, and compassionate, and definitely one of the most knowledgeable in her expertise. She was amazing and pleasant the whole day. As I took a few walks in the hall I would hear her happy, positive, and most encouraging words to all of her patients.
I was thrilled because I was privileged to have Ellen a second day. This feeling came over me. Everyone on 2B was so kind and excellent in skills. I felt very safe. Whatever question I asked was always answered with very wise and soft words, yet with Ellen, I felt she had a tremendous experience as a nurse.
Ellen is all about her patients, but she is always there for her fellow nurses and everyone on the floor. She would be in the middle of writing or on the computer, but when I walked past her she would ask me if everything was all right and if she could do anything for me. Some of the best nurses I've EVER met are working on 2B, along with everyone else who works on 2B.
Thank you all for your kindness, I appreciate you. But Ellen has something really beautiful inside her soul. She feels people, genuinely loves her patients and would go beyond the call of duty for Valley Hospital! Please let's give a shout out to Ellen for all of her beautiful qualities that should never go unrecognized. A person who gives her all like Ellen is one of the greatest examples Valley Hospital needs to celebrate. Ellen's eyes know what you are feeling when she looks into your eyes! Ellen hears your words when you speak, and embraces you as if you were her own family member. But mostly, Ellen "has your back," She is so real and so loyal. What a pleasure to know Ellen. Thank you Ellen. May God bless you.
