My father collapsed, was brought to the ER by ambulance and arrested, was intubated and placed on a ventilator. A CT of the head showed a significant bleed that has historically been a death sentence for any patient. Christine was my dad's primary nurse - who with Dr. Neri and the rest of the staff in ER (all were superb!) not only managed the clinical care, but Christine also provided hope and encouragement that all was possibly not futile. Together, she kept me focused on hopeful signs (pupils responding slightly). She also encouraged and supported transfer when we were deciding whether to implement my father advanced directive of no CPR, no ventilator. We virtually had minutes to determine whether to take a chance that my dad would not be "saved" to be in a vegetative state. Again, Christine listened and focused on the hopeful perspective. We went with hers (and Dr. Mackie's) suggestion of transferring to the only healthcare system in Michigan that provided a fairly revolutionary procedure, which not only ended up saving his life but within 30 days he was home, and within 45 days was at 100%. Without Christine's clinical skills and knowledge, as well as her emotional support and caring/hopeful attitude my father may have had his last day in our ER. Christine is truly an angel in the ER - very caring, positive and one of the best all around nurse/person I know.

I have had the opportunity to work with Christine multiple times in the last 2 years and her caring and compassion for her patients is second to none. Each patient that is fortunate enough to have her as a nurse gets the absolute best care due to her excellent nursing skills, knowledge in the medical field, ability to be level headed and calm in any situation, and her kind hearted spirit. This good nature that she shares does not end with the patients. As a coworker she shows the utmost respect for those she works with, is always willing to lend a hand, and is a superb mentor. There isn't a day I can think of that I haven't come in to see a smile on her face and she shares her positive attitude with all those around her. I feel very fortunate to have the opportunity to learn from and work beside such a truly amazing nurse.
