Janet Silvestri joined The DAISY Foundation in 2013 and serves as the Program Director for the Midwest Region. Janet supports approximately 500 healthcare organizations and 70 schools of nursing in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Wisconsin, and her home state of Michigan.
Janet ran a successful home-based clerical service for 19 years while she and her husband raised their three children. In 2003, she began the first of a variety of administrative roles at two Ascension hospitals in Michigan, where she had the unique opportunity of being their first DAISY Coordinator and witnessed the positive impact DAISY has on the nursing environment. Working in healthcare behind the scenes for 10 years, Janet worked closely with nurses and was awed by their dedication and compassion. She was proud to bring her insight from working in a healthcare environment to DAISY to be able to provide guidance to our partners that is relatable and helps them to create a successful and sustainable DAISY Award program. All of Janet’s roles in her 40+ year career have been focused on client service and support. Janet lives in Sterling Heights, MI with her husband, Sandro, and a very spoiled pup named Boxer.
