My hero nurse from the moment I arrived at 5PW was Mr. Zorab Fernandez. I am a cancer patient, I arrived at the ER on Friday, with severe nutrition lost due to the complications of cancer. Going through the ER and then to the room they put me in for the first 2 days until Sunday afternoon could be described as a never again experience. I don't even know if staying the first 48 hours helped me or not, because of the psychological strain of the atmosphere created by the nurses and the team around my room. After literally begging to be moved out, we arrived at a new room.
My mom and I were both so happy to be out of there. Reaching our new room was such a relief. Zorab Fernandez was my nurse for three consecutive nights. From changing my bandages to new allergy-free ones to arranging my MRI, to taking sedatives, he was excellent. He is not a talkative or very friendly-looking person, but his heart is his action. He not only made me feel very secure here but also explained whatever I need about my health with tremendous knowledge.
I did not wait for a second for anything I asked for those three nights. I knew he was there, and if anything happened, he would take care of it. He said, "You don't worry, we are here." He was so careful not to wake me up while taking blood; he followed with each medicine, their combination, timing them to perfection. Nothing to worry about as a patient, not having to remember each medicine. He was working around the clock with complete attention.
You are my night shift hero! A silent one, really a silent one. Without talking too much, you helped me to stay here longer with joy and proper care. Thank you so much, this is a forever change. There is hope in this world because of people like you. Thank you again and again. I will always remember how a nurse changed the concept of hospitals and doctors in my mind. Thank you. After so many days, I am ready to go home today with love in my heart, health in my body. That has never happened before. For the first time, I had a meaningful stay.
