Zach is my hero because of his outstanding ability to show care in the most wonderful way!
It's been one month since my old, arthritic hip was replaced. When I look back, I remember it primarily as the day I met my hero.

I’ve had several surgeries and was familiar with post-anesthesia care, you usually leave the unit shortly after waking up and have little memory of your time there. For reasons beyond my understanding, I spent several hours waiting for a room in PACU. Zachary became my hero during those hours.

He was an excellent nurse seeing to all my physical needs. I am so thankful for that. But he did something I’ve never seen before; he made “lemonade out of lemons.”

When everyone had left, he pulled up a chair by my bed and offered me a “glass of lemonade” as we got to know each other.

I don’t think anything happens by chance and the opportunity he offered by inviting me to talk with him helped soothe my anxiety.

My husband was alone in the waiting room, and he brought him back so we could all wait together.
Finally, at 9:45 pm he went with us to my room and didn’t leave until he was sure I was well taken care of. Heroes come in all shapes and sizes.

They are often unrecognized because they are just doing their job. He is my hero because of his outstanding ability to show care in the most wonderful way!
